Resources

In 2016, BiblioDev, LLC received a small grant from the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Kabul to conduct a survey of libraries in Afghanistan.  The purpose of the survey was to provide data about the current state of Afghan libraries - the first survey ever conducted on these important civil institutions - in the areas of collections, physical space, technology, staffing, and usage.

Over 300 libraries were reached, with the assistance of NGOs working on literacy efforts, including:

The findings indicate that libraries are doing their best to support their users and the growth of literacy, but face a serious need for financial and social support.
